Peugeot (Ireland) was an assembly plant for motor vehicles and thus part of the automotive industry in Ireland .

Company history

The company was based in Dublin . The earliest known mention is from 1956. It sold Peugeot vehicles . McEntagart Bros. assembled these vehicles from 1956 to 1958 and Standard Triumph (Eire) from 1958 to 1961 . From the spring of 1959 there were problems with the Standard Motor Company from the United Kingdom . This led to the start of our own assembly of automobiles in 1962. The plant was in Sallynoggin , a suburb of Dublin. The parts continued to come from Peugeot. Michael Colbert, Matt McQuaid and Brendan Reville are known from this time. Production may have ended in 1967. But there are also indications that assembly was carried out until 1979 or 1981 or 1982.

The connection to Gowan Distributors is unclear. This company was founded on August 26, 1969 and is related to Peugeot.

vehicles

Initially, the externally assembled Peugeot 403 was offered. The own assembly included the Peugeot 404 .
