Parish Church of the Seven Sorrows of Mary in Adlwang

The Adlwang parish church - also a pilgrimage church - is located in Adlwang in the Adlwang municipality in Upper Austria . The Roman Catholic parish church of the Seven Sorrows of the Virgin Mary - incorporated into Kremsmünster Abbey - belongs to the Kremsmünster Dean's Office in the Diocese of Linz . The church is a listed building .

history

Initially, a noble residence was mentioned around 1180. A Marienkapelle was mentioned in a document around 1330. In 1431 the choir and the tower were built. At the end of the 15th century the church was enlarged. In 1589 the church was rebuilt. The nave was rebuilt in the first half of the 17th century.

architecture

The elongated three-bay choir with a 3/6 end has a mesh rib vault with three parallel ribs on services and tracery windows. The late Gothic north portal is walled up on the outside. The sacristy door is framed in a late Gothic style. The single-nave, three-bay, barrel-vaulted baroque nave has a baroque three-axis west gallery with a protruding middle section. The tower and a stair tower stand in the southern corner of the choir and have a framework structure. The onion dome of the tower is from the 2nd half of the 17th century.

Furnishing

The high altar from 1663 bears a cross in the middle, a picture frame and kneeling angels from around 1719. There is a Gothic Vesper picture from around 1410/1420 with standing angels on the side from 1661. The side altars from 1732 were made by a sculptor from Hall with pictures by the painter Matthias Auhuber Hall. The pulpit is from the 3rd quarter of the 18th century.

The organ is from the 4th quarter of the 18th century.
