The Roman Catholic parish church Altschwendt is located in Altschwendt in the Altschwendt municipality in the Schärding district in Upper Austria . The church consecrated to St. Maximilian belongs to the Andorf deanery in the diocese of Linz . The church is a listed building .

history

At first the chapel of St. Mary of Egypt with the parish of Raab. The planned parish church was built from 1848 to 1849 and consecrated on September 11, 1849. On September 24, 1854, the church was consecrated with Bishop Franz Joseph Rudigier . After the construction of a house for the clergy and the construction of a cemetery, the church was elevated to a parish church on January 1, 1856. In 1899 the interior of the church was restored for the 50th anniversary. The dilapidated spire was rebuilt in 1905. In 1943 the copper sheet of the church tower was replaced by iron sheet for war purposes and covered with copper again in 1999 for the 150th anniversary.

Furnishing

The facility is from the construction period. The sculptor Joseph Furthner (1932) built the new high altar . The folk altar and the ambo were made by the Hallstatt Wood School in 1985 .

The organ with figures of angels playing music and David with the harp received a new work from Orgelbau Eisenbarth in 1995 . In 1949 the church received three bells again, cast by the St. Florian bell foundry .
