Parish church Bad Vigaun
The parish church of Bad Vigaun is located in the center of Vigaun in the Bad Vigaun municipality in the Hallein district in the state of Salzburg . The Roman Catholic parish church , consecrated to Saint Dionysius of Paris , belongs to the Hallein deanery of the Archdiocese of Salzburg . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).
history
The place Vigaun was first mentioned in 748, the church in 790. From 1488 to 1516 the church was rebuilt. In 1850 it was elevated to a parish church . In 1974 the church was restored.
architecture
The three-aisled, late Gothic hall church has a mighty west tower and a gable roof. It is surrounded by a cemetery with a high wall. The church consists of unplastered ashlar masonry made of conglomerate rock. It has a circumferential base and a circumferential eaves cornice in the form of a hollow cornice. In the second yoke of the north and south walls of the nave are portals. The north portal is walled up. It has a grooved, barbed garment. The south portal has a multi-grooved ogival vestment marked with the year 1488. In the tympanum field there is a late Gothic relief of St. Dionysius, inscribed 1638. The tower, which is essentially older, is presented to the west facade. It has three chamfered, pointed arched openings, a base, a coffin cornice under the bell-shaped storey, biforic windows and a pointed helmet pulled down over the beveled corners of the tower. The tower hall has a star rib vault. The grooved pointed arch portal in the east of the tower leads into the nave. To the north of the tower, in the corner of the nave, there is a round stair tower with a spiral staircase and a conical roof. The staircase opens up the lower gallery and the attic of the nave. In the first yoke of the south wall is the closed, groin-vaulted death chapel under a pent roof.
