The Roman Catholic parish church Baumgarten in Burgenland is in the municipality of Baumgarten in the Mattersburg district in Burgenland . The parish church of Peter and Paul is part of the Mattersburg deanery in the Eisenstadt diocese . The church is a listed building .

history

The nave was built in 1725, the tower in 1781. In 1790 the church was renovated after a fire. In 1965 there was a restoration.

architecture

The baroque church has a three-storey west tower with a false gable and a stone pyramid helmet. The west portal shows the year 1781. The south portal has a vestibule. The former cemetery around the church has a former defensive wall with loopholes and shows walled-in gravestones.

The four-bay nave under a barrel vault with stitch caps is structured with pilaster strips. The three-axis west gallery over groined vaults has a stuccoed parapet. The pressed triumphal arch shows the year 1725 and 1965. The one-bay choir has a three-eighth end, the choir bay has a vaulted barrel, the apse has vaulted caps.

Furnishing

The high altar from the end of the 18th century shows the new altarpiece Peter and Paul between columns and bears the figures Stephan and Barbara on the side and the figures Florian and Rochus on top. The right side altar bears a wooden replica of the Mariazell Mother of God.
