history

In 1962 there was an exterior restoration, in 1973/1975 the foundation was secured because of the risk of subsidence of the walls standing on pilots, and in 1975 an interior restoration took place.
architecture
The exterior of the church, structured with double pilasters, has a gable roof over the nave. The tower, which protrudes slightly towards the nave escape, is located in the southern corner of the choir; a lower saddle roof covers the choir, the attached oratorios and the sacristy. The straight east side forms a gable front with facade and has the year “1697”. The south portal shows the year “1692”.
The stately high-baroque church building also has a four-bay nave with groined vaults and belt arches on protruding pillars with flat niches in between. The three-axis organ loft stands on pillars. The retracted two-bay choir has a 3/8 end. Oratories and a gallery are built on the north side, a square tower with a pyramid helmet and a sacristy with a gallery on the south side.
Furnishing
The remarkable institution was organized from 1707 to 1729 by the Riegersburg chief pastor Gundacker von Stubenberg.
