The Roman Catholic parish church Eggelsberg is located in Eggelsberg in the market town of Eggelsberg in the Braunau am Inn district in Upper Austria . The church, consecrated on the Assumption of Mary , belongs to the Deanery Ostermiething in the Diocese of Linz . The church and the cemetery are under monument protection .

history

A church was mentioned in a document in 1143. The Gothic church was built around 1420/1436 after the type of the church in Hochburg and the Braunau hospital church, probably with master Oswald Bürkel.

architecture

The church stands on the highest point of the place and is surrounded by a defensive wall with a stone slab cover. The high Gothic west tower (72 m) has a baroque tower.

Furnishing

The huge high altar, probably by a Mattighofen master, with cartilage and twisted columns was created around 1661 and shows a painting by Tobias Schinagl (1661).

In 2002, the Kögler Organ Builders (St. Florian) built a new organ with 20 sounding stops on two manuals and a pedal into the existing baroque case (1653).

In the 72 meter high tower there are five bells that sound in the tones cis' e 'fis' gis' h'. They were cast in 1926 (bell 5, St. Florian), 1950 (bell 2, 3 and 4, St. Florian) and 1959 (bell 1, Hamm and Hartner in Grödig).
