Catholic parish church of the Assumption in Engelhartszell

The Roman Catholic parish church Engelhartszell is located in Engelhartszell in the market town of Engelhartszell in the Schärding district in Upper Austria . The church, consecrated on the Assumption of Mary , belongs to the deanery Peuerbach in the diocese of Linz . The church and the cemetery are under monument protection .

history

A church was mentioned in a document in 1194. The Gothic church building from 1459 was changed to Baroque style in the 17th century.

architecture

A three-bay choir with a three-eighth end is attached to the single-nave three-bay nave under a stitch cap barrel vault. The front arch and the vault of the choir are Gothic, the ribs are removed. The tower in the southern choir corner has an onion helmet. The entire west side is taken up by a stab cap barrel vaulted vestibule with a high, effective round arch.

Furnishing

The high altar, the side altars and the pulpit are from the second quarter of the 18th century. The baroque Stations of the Cross are in baroque frames. The baptismal font is late Gothic. In the western vestibule are the figures of Mary and John from a Gothic crucifixion group around 1500, the crucified one is from the middle of the 18th century.

Hendrik Ahrend built an organ in the North German Baroque style in 2017 . The instrument has 13 registers , which are divided into two manuals and pedal.

There are tombstones from the 16th to 18th centuries. There is a bell around 1400.
