Catholic parish church of St. Aegydius in Fischbach

The Fischbach parish church is located in the Fischbach community in the Weiz district in Styria . The Roman Catholic parish church consecrated to St. Giles belongs to the Birkfeld deanery in the Graz-Seckau diocese . The church and the former cemetery are under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

A parish was mentioned in a document in 1402.

Nothing has been preserved from the old church building. Today's late baroque church was built in 1783 and restored in 1966/1968.

Church exterior

The uniform late baroque church building has a cruciform floor plan.

Church interior

A one-bay choir with a semicircle adjoins the three-bay nave with a wider crossing bay with lateral exedra.

Furnishing

The high altar from 1880 carries statues from the fourth quarter of the 18th century from the previous altar. The side altars from 1842/1843 show good pictures, on the left with the signature W. Rolling 1855.

The organ case is from the end of the 18th century. One bell is from the 13th century.

Countess Maria A. Steinpeiß 1680 names a gravestone .
