The Roman Catholic parish church of Gösing am Wagram is located in the southeast of the village of Gösing am Wagram in the market town of Fels am Wagram in the Tulln district in Lower Austria . The church consecrated to St. John the Baptist belongs to the Hadersdorf deanery in the vicariate Unter dem Manhartsberg of the Archdiocese of Vienna . The church is a listed building .

history

In the 14th century a branch of Grafenwörth, a parish was mentioned in a document in 1480 with the foundation of a Carmelite monastery at the court in Vienna. After the Carmelite monastery in Vienna was dissolved, the parish was incorporated into the Göttweig monastery from 1548 to 1995 . From 1631 to 1752 the church was a branch of Mühlbach.

An early Baroque church was added to a late Gothic chapel, mentioned in a document in 1477, in 1671 by master mason Georg Dufta. In the middle of the 19th century the church was extended by a tower tower and a porch.

Furnishing

The late historical high altar from 1904 bears a high relief baptism of Christ and the side figures Leopold and a bishop.

The organ was built by Max Zachistal and Franz Capek (1898).
