The parish church Gams bei Hieflau is located in Gams bei Hieflau in the municipality of Landl in the Liezen district in Styria . The Roman Catholic parish church consecrated to Saint Joseph of Nazareth - incorporated into Admont Abbey - belongs to the Admont dean's office in the Graz-Seckau diocese . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

The church and rectory were built with the master builder Matthäus Habacher and his son and master builder Johann Michael Habacher and consecrated in 1788. 1929 and 1978 were restorations.

architecture

The church and the rectory to the east form a structure under a shared hipped roof, on the center of which rests a roof turret with a baroque onion dome.

The four-bay church interior with a straight end is vaulted with a pressed flat barrel on straps on flat fluted pilasters. The west gallery is made of wood. The mural was painted by the brother Lucas Schmitt from Seckau Abbey (1929).

Furnishing

The high altar was built after the middle of the 18th century and shows the high altar painting Death of St. Joseph painted by Patriz Johann Tendler (1805).

The Marien altar with rich silver-plated metal decoration from the third quarter of the 18th century was transferred to the Admont Abbey (Museum of Art History).

The pulpit from the first quarter of the 18th century shows a rococo ornament on the basket and the figure of Archangel Michael from the third quarter of the 17th century on the bell lid .

There are some Baroque figures from the late 18th and early 19th centuries, including a figure of Hemma von Gurk . The pictures of the Stations of the Cross in the Baroque tradition are from the beginning of the 19th century. The round baptismal font has a figure of John the Baptist around 1800 on the lid. The eternal light is from the beginning of the 18th century.

Melchior Schurer names a bell 1696. Florentin Streckfuß 1704 names a bell.
