Catholic parish church of St. Peter and Paul in Geretsberg

The Roman Catholic parish church Geretsberg is located in the municipality of Geretsberg in the Braunau am Inn district in Upper Austria . It is consecrated to Saints Peter and Paul and belongs to the Deanery Ostermiething in the Diocese of Linz . The building is under monument protection ( list of listed objects in Haigermoos list entry ).

history

It was first mentioned in a document around 1120. The Gothic building was built in the first half of the 15th century.

architecture

Church exterior

The church tower is in the southern corner of the choir. It has an eight-sided baroque structure with an onion helmet . The north portal with a rib vaulted porch is Gothic. The door to the sacristy has Gothic fittings.

Church interior

The church has a single nave and three bay nave. Above it is ribbed vault . In 1908 the church was extended by a yoke to the west. The single-bay choir is almost the same width as the nave. It ends in the 5/8 end and is also vaulted with mesh ribs.

Furnishing

The high altar and the side altars were built in the last quarter of the 17th century. They were changed in the 19th century. The pulpit and the oratory date from the third quarter of the 18th century. The choir stalls are from the third quarter of the 17th century. The pews were built in the middle of the 18th century. A good wooden crucifix from the second half of the 17th century hangs in the choir .
