Burkhard Müller-Schoenau

Burkhard Müller-Schoenau (born November 12, 1957 in West Berlin ) is a German editor and politician of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen .

Life

Müller-Schoenau grew up in Berlin-Steglitz and attended school in Lichterfelde , Tiergarten and Charlottenburg . He then studied pedagogy at the University of Education and the Technical University , also in Berlin. During his studies he was involved in the Catholic student youth . In 1985 he moved to Hamburg , where he attended the journalism school. He then worked as a parliamentary correspondent for the German dispatch service in Bonn until 1989 . He also wrote articles for the weekly newspaper Die Zeit . Back in Berlin he worked as a news editor for the broadcaster Free Berlin . In 1997 he took a leave of absence from this post, but later returned and was taken over by Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg after the channel merger .

In 1978 Müller-Schoenau took part in the establishment of the Alternative List, in which he had membership number 44. Within his party, he held the post of press spokesman for years and called for a "car-free city", among other things. After he was a district councilor for a while, he moved into the Berlin House of Representatives in 1995 . There he was chairman of the transport committee and was also a member of the main committee, from 1998 he was also deputy chairman of the Green parliamentary group and from the following year financial policy spokesman. In 2001 he left the House of Representatives for family reasons.
