The parish church Maria Raisenmarkt is located in the Kirchweiler Maria Raisenmarkt in the market town of Alland in the Baden district in Lower Austria . The Roman Catholic parish church , consecrated to Saints Philip and Jacob , belongs to the Deanery Heiligenkreuz in the vicariate Unter dem Wienerwald of the Archdiocese of Vienna . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

In 1783 the settlement , which had been in the possession of the Heiligenkreuz Abbey since the Middle Ages, was raised to local chaplaincy; the chaplain was provided by the monastery. Since then, Cistercian fathers have looked after the little church. The church that stands today was built using the walls of the medieval church. From 1883 to 1889 renovations were carried out according to plans by Dominik Avanzo . During the exterior renovation in 1983, a Romanesque and an early Gothic window from the 12th and 13th centuries were discovered.

Pilgrimage church

In 1977 the pastor Beda Zilch O Cist. a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes was placed in the church. In addition, a pilgrimage center was developed in the dean's office in Heiligenkreuz. On the eleventh of each month - the day Lourdes appeared on February 11, 1858 - monthly pilgrimages to Mary, Salvation of the Sick, take place. The parish church was elevated to a pilgrimage church in 1987 by Archbishop Hans Hermann Groër (according to memorial plaques on the church wall). In 1989 the Alland town council decided to change the Kirchweiler's name from Raisenmarkt to Maria Raisenmarkt.

architecture

The church building, which is essentially medieval, shows itself in a simple Josephine style under a hipped roof with a retracted square choir and a roof turret over the smooth western front.

Furnishing

The high altar with a free-standing altar table from 1771 from the former high altar of the collegiate church Heiligenkreuz with a domed classical tabernacle in the shape of a temple flanked by angel figures was transferred here from Heiligenkreuz in 1831.

The pulpit around 1700 with a hexagonal basket was transferred here from the Laurentiuskirche in Mayerling.

Alois and Ferdinand Erler built the organ in a simple, original case in 1857.
