The Roman Catholic parish church of Pischelsdorf is located in the municipality of Pischelsdorf am Engelbach in the Braunau am Inn district in Upper Austria . The church, consecrated on the feast of the Assumption of Mary , belongs to the Mattighofen deanery in the diocese of Linz . The church and the cemetery are under monument protection .
history
A church was mentioned in a document around 1125. The art-historically significant church was built from 1392. The choir was consecrated in 1419.
On July 30, 1837, a fire largely destroyed the original facility.
architecture
The late Gothic, three-aisled hall church has a ribbed vault in the central nave and a ribbed vault in the side aisles. The actually small church with only one two-bay nave has an inner length of 25.4 meters and an inner width of 16.8 meters and is comparatively low. The one-bay choir, which is the same width as the central nave, closes with a quarter-note. The ambulatory, vaulted with a net and star ribs, is the same width as the side aisles. While the pair of pillars in the choir are round pillars, those of the nave are cross-shaped with chamfered templates on all four sides.
A baroque bell chamber and an onion helmet were added to the west tower.
Furnishing
After the fire in 1837, the church was renovated in the mid-19th century in a neo-baroque style using older components. The high altar and the side altars were created using older parts in 1850/1851 and were made by the Salzburg carpenter Johann Peschke. The side altar paintings (St. Sebastian, St. Florian) are from 1851 and are works by the Salzburg painter Sebastian Stief .
