history

The initial church was built in the first half of the 13th century. A pastor was mentioned in documents in 1264 and 1270. A church was documented in 1287 and the choir was built around 1300. In 1344 there was a chaplain foundation from Chunrats von Görtschach, which also included the construction of the south aisle. The parish had been sovereign since the 15th century. In the first quarter of the 16th century, the nave of the nave was vaulted. In 1536 the sacristy was added. The north aisle was added in the fourth quarter of the 16th century, with the presbytery being a Gothic charnel house. Around 1725/1735, the church was partially redesigned in Baroque style under Pastor Leopold Sommerer. 1962 to 1968 was a restoration.

The late Gothic nave with a Romanesque core and an early Gothic choir was given early modern additions. The core of the churchyard wall is late medieval and has been largely renewed.

architecture

The exterior of the church is uniformly plastered with exposed stone carving parts.

The interior of the church has a dark central nave and the surrounding lighter chapel-like parts of the room.

The wall painting shows four angels making music and an imperial eagle on the keystone in the central nave vault and floral gusset ornaments with the year 1525 above the triumphal arch.

Furnishing

The left side altar as a neo-Gothic retable from 1884 shows the canvas painting St. Patricius from the middle of the 18th century. On the neoclassical altar table is a holy grave from 1900. The right side altar as a columned retable was created by Philipp Lafleur (1727), the altar bears a copy of the Prigglitzer Madonna based on the original from the fourth quarter of the 15th century, the Madonna stands between the statues Leopold, Sebastian, Rochus and Florian, on the cloud extract are the figures of the Trinity with angels.

The Prigglitzer Monstrance from 1515 is in the Dom Museum Vienna .
