The deanery Gloggnitz is a deanery in the vicariate Unter dem Wienerwald of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vienna .

Deanery Gloggnitz

The deanery comprises 13 parishes and a branch in southern Lower Austria with around 8,500 Catholics.

Diocesan development process

On November 29, 2015, development areas were defined for all parishes in the Archdiocese of Vienna. The parishes should work more closely together in the development areas, form parish associations or pastoral care rooms. At the end of the process, new parishes should emerge from the development areas. The following development areas have been defined in the Deanery Gloggnitz:

  • Gloggnitz, Klamm am Semmering, Kranichberg, Prigglitz, Raach am Hochgebirge, Schottwien and Semmering
    • Subunit 1: Gloggnitz, Kranichberg, Prigglitz and Raach am Hochgebirge
    • Subunit 2: Klamm am Semmering, Schottwien and Semmering
  • Edlach an der Rax, Payerbach, Prein an der Rax and Reichenau an der Rax
  • St. Valentin-Landschach, Wimpassing in the Schwarzatale and Dunkelstein-Blindendorf

The Pottschach parish became part of the Neunkirchen deanery on September 1, 2016 .
