history

A church was documented in 1160. In 1992 the remains of a medieval cemetery were excavated (see Dunkelstein ruins ).

architecture

A baroque hall building stands above a medieval predecessor building. A retracted, round closed choir with supporting pillars and narrow, arched windows adjoins the nave . The west gable front is undivided with small round windows and above it carries a hexagonal roof turret with a pyramid helmet .

The three-bay nave under a groin vault has an organ gallery with basket-arched, pillar-supported arcades and a parapet with plastered structure. The triumphal arch is rounded. The one-yoke choir has a lancet barrel vault.

Furnishing

The high altar around 1700 with a column-framed reredos with a rectangular extension shows the altar sheet Petri in the dungeon from the 18th century. The similar side altars from the end of the 17th century show the altar sheet Johannes Nepomuk on the left and Francis in the excerpt and on the right the altar sheet Stigmatization of St. Francis and in the excerpt a relief crucifix in front of a painted city backdrop.

The organ was built by Franz Ullmann (1875).
