The parish church Radweg in the municipality Feldkirchen in Carinthia is dedicated to the holy Radegund . The church in Radweg was first mentioned in 1136 as a branch church of Tigring . By 1251 at the latest, Radweg was an independent parish. Until 1390 the church was under the patronage of St. Vincent.

Building description

The former choir tower church has walls from the first half of the 12th century in the nave and in the western choir bay. In 1897 the nave was extended to the west, the tower from the second half of the 14th century demolished and replaced by a new building with biforic sound openings and a pointed gable helmet. The retracted choir and the north-facing sacristy were built around 1500. On the south side of the choir there is still a bricked-up Romanesque window.

In the flat-roofed nave there is a wooden gallery on two supports. The nave has arched windows on the north side and round arched windows on the south side. The round-arched triumphal arch with fighter plates is chamfered against the nave. The ribs were knocked out of the Romanesque vault in the western choir bay. Late Gothic vaults with burr- cut caps rises above the eastern choir yoke and the three-eighth closure . A segmental arched portal leads into the groin-vaulted sacristy.

Murals

In 1838 Franziskus Haferl painted the ceiling of the nave with the Pentecost festival and the medallions of the four evangelists . In 1946, painted fragments of a Last Judgment and a crucifixion were uncovered on the triumphal arch around 1430 . In 1983 a fragment of a procession of the Three Kings was discovered . The sacrament case was painted in the 15th century using the Al-Secco technique .

Facility

The high altar was made in the 19th century using decorative elements from the early 18th century. It bears a picture of Saint Radegund from the 20th century and figures of saints from the 19th century. The two side altars from the late 18th century show Saints Apollonia and Oswald on the altar leaves on the left and Saint Lucia on the right .

The church also features figures of saints Radegundis, Lucia and Apollonia from the Baierberg workshop from around 1520, a saint Radegundis (17th century), a saint Sebastian (18th century), an oil painting of the birth of Christ (19th century). Century) as well as a lecture cross from the first half of the 18th century.
