The Roman Catholic parish church in Rohr im Gebirge stands on a step in the valley floor in the center of the municipality of Rohr im Gebirge in the Wiener Neustadt-Land district in Lower Austria . It is consecrated to St. Ulrich and belongs to the deanery Piesting in the vicariate Unter dem Wienerwald of the Archdiocese of Vienna . The church is a listed building .

history

A parish and a church building are documented for the first time in 1470. The current parish church was built between 1878 and 1879 and restored between 1950 and 1962.

Church building

Exterior

The church is a simple hall building with a church tower in the west. The nave is not structured and has arched windows. The main portal on the north side has a porch. The square choir is strongly drawn in. The church tower in the west with a bell storey and pointed helmet is flanked by low extensions. One of them is a single-storey sacristy extension.

Interior

The three-bay church has a modern, flat wooden beam ceiling supported by consoles . The music gallery is about 1½ yokes long. The triumphal arch separates the nave from the single-bay square choir bay with neo-Gothic rib vaults. St. Ulrich is depicted on a window in the choir and St. Leonhard , St. Joseph and St. Hubertus as well as the symbols of the sacrament are shown in the nave . The stained glass dates from 1967.

Furnishing

The high altar is a cafeteria from marble , which was built around the 1960th A cube-shaped tabernacle made of enamel stands on it . Above it is a baroque crucifix from the second half of the 18th century. Above the left side altar is a statue of St. John the Baptist and above the right a statue of the Madonna from the early 18th century. On the tower wall is a baroque statue of St. John the Evangelist , also from the beginning of the 18th century. The pictures of the Stations of the Cross, which are executed as reverse glass painting, date from 1960. The former high altar picture, which shows Saint Ulrich, painted in 1879 by Josef Kessler, hangs in the vestibule . It was restored in 1935.
