Schäffern parish church
The Schäffern parish church is located in the Schäffern community in the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district in Styria . The parish church , consecrated to Peter and Paul , belongs to the Vorau deanery of the Graz-Seckau diocese . The church and the cemetery wall are under monument protection ( list entry ).
history
A parish was mentioned in a document in 1227.
The new church was built in 1777/1778 according to the plans of the architect Johann Georg Reinharter. 1930 was a renovation.
architecture
A retracted single-bay choir with a semicircle adjoins the two-bay nave under square vaults on pillars and a strong cornice. The western front shows itself as a single tower facade with pilaster structure and volute gable. Starting from the second nave yoke, there is a women's chapel and a Patritius chapel. The organ gallery is arched.
On the south side of the choir are several gravestones from the destroyed Nikolauskirche in Elsenau : Niclas Perner died 1550. As well as the members of the Rindsmaul family (noble family) : Rupert Rindsmaul died 1651, Wolff Rindsmaul died 1703, Salome Rindsmaul died 1742, Sigismund Rindsmaul died 1756 .
Furnishing
The interior of the church is from the construction time. The high altar shows a painting by Philipp Carl Laubmann . The Patritius altar with a painted antependium shows the upper image of the Holy Family by Philipp Carl Laubmann (1778).
The organ case from 1808 was probably created by Ludwig Greß, the new organ is from 1973. A bell from the second quarter of the 13th century is the oldest bell in Styria.
