The existing schoolhouse was rebuilt in 1811/12. Before that there was already a wooden schoolhouse in the same place, which was destroyed by fire on February 19, 1733. The rebuilt wooden house was replaced in the same place by a brick schoolhouse in 1788, until it collapsed in the spring of 1808. The schoolhouse contained a spacious classroom and an assistant's room on the first floor, while the schoolmaster's apartment was on the ground floor. In 1875 a second classroom, a staircase and a toilet were built on the east side. With the expansion to a three-class school in 1907 (1st class with 108 students) the necessity of a one-storey extension for 2 classes was given.

On July 1, 1907, the construction of two new teaching rooms, a new staircase and a new toilet facility began. In 1958 the school was provided with a central heating system. Until 1973, 8 school levels were accommodated in the 3 - 5 grades. After the introduction of compulsory secondary school at the beginning of the 1970s, only the first 4 years of school are taught at the Schäfferner Volksschule. The existing school building was completely renovated from 1978 to 1979 (new roofing, new windows, new facade) and the former teacher's apartment was redesigned for school purposes (office, conference room, work room and teaching material room). From 2006 to 2008, the elementary school including the gym was completely renovated and expanded.
