Roman age burial mound at the vulgo Haubenhofer ObjektID : 76021 |
Haubenhofer vulgo location KG: Stubenberg |
The Roman burial mound dates from the middle of the 2nd to the 3rd century. Excavation and restoration took place in 2002. A stone slab spans the rectangular burial chamber, in which a stone wall shelf was probably used to place grave goods. Two long walls form the entrance to the burial chamber; this entrance was originally covered with stone slabs. The grave inscription was found during the excavation in front of the entrance, a copy can be seen on site, and reports: “Gentilis, son of Finitus, and (his wife) Crispa, daughter of Attus, (have) for themselves and (their ) at the age of (...) years (deceased) daughter Censorina (the tomb erected) ”. Despite the use of the Latin language, it is a local family: the grandfather Attus still has a Celtic name. |
