The church is dedicated to St. Jacob the Elder , the patron saint of the Crusaders. Documentary records are still preserved for an enlargement of the presbytery in the 15th century. The sandstone portal walls on the west side and Gothic sculptures from the previous building also date from this period. The church stands on the site of the abandoned Affnang Castle .

A baroque country church with a single nave and a two-bay choir. After a fire in 1728, the church was rebuilt by Pastor Sepp von Seppenburg from Gaspoltshofen and renovated several times in the last century.

The parish church is also known under the name "Dom vom Landl". It has a 42 m high tower, which is crowned by a dome. The church was built in its current form from 1732 to 1735 under Pastor Sepp von Seppenburg with the Baroque master builder Jakob Pawanger . In 1790 the presbytery was extended. Inside, double pilasters support the vault. The "ship's pulpit", a rococo pulpit in the shape of the ship Petri and the high altar painting by Frans de Neve , which was created around 1689, are worth mentioning .

The first documentary mention took place in 1565. The church was redesigned in baroque style around 1684. The early baroque high altar from 1643 with the altarpiece of St. Margarethe comes from the parish church of Aistersheim. Höft Castle used to stand on the site of the church .
