According to Dehio, the three-sided Gothic tabernacle pillar is a funeral or cemetery lamp from 1515 in the green area in front of the Maria Lebing church , Wilfinger counters that a compact pillar could not serve as a funeral lamp and was never a regular cemetery at this point. According to his representation, it is a plague cross that was erected over the plague graves from 1514.

The three sides of the smooth pillar indicate the Trinity, the edges are equipped with round bars. Originally, the year 1514 was carved into the pillar, but this is no longer visible as the pillar was damaged several times by trucks. The tabernacle, which is also three-sided, has flat arched niches on all sides. The pillar is completed by a curly, crab-covered pointed helmet with a finial .

According to the inscription, the Marian Column or Woman's Column is a foundation of the Hartberg ruler Maria Countess von Paar (1657–1682) and her daughter Maria Anna Countess von Talmberg and her husband Rudolph Graf von Talmberg. In the base are the coats of arms of the Paar and Talmberg families , dated 1675. It was a widespread custom in the 17th century for noble ladies and wealthy citizens to erect statues of the Virgin Mary. Perhaps it was also the victory of Count Montecuccoli over the Turks near Mogersdorf (1664), which greatly reduced the Turkish threat. The beautiful, gold-plated statue of the Virgin Mary is the work of the Hartberg sculptor Christoph Hofstetter (Kohlbach 1956) (Proven restorations in 1811, 1876, 1928, 1959).

The plague column was probably erected immediately after the great plague epidemic that raged in the city in 1679. The donor and artist are not known, but the donor could have been a Lederer due to the design of the base. The stone statue of St. Rochus with cloak, pilgrim staff and dog stands on a foundation plinth with a heavily weathered relief of St. Rosalia, who is lying down holding a skull in her hands, a base with the representation of the Coronation of Mary and the donor couple, and the smooth column.

The column originally stood on Wienerstrasse, but after the Second World War it was moved to the park in the former moat.
