Adolf Osterider

Adolf Anton Osterider (born June 18, 1924 in Graz ; † February 10, 2019 ) was an Austrian visual artist .

Life

Osterider completed his painting master class in Graz before attending the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and graduating from Sergius Pauser . He received a professorship at the Graz HTBLA Ortweinplatz in the subject of artistic design and teaching assignments at various higher education institutions in Styria and Salzburg. In 1988 Osterider received the “ Appreciation Prize of the State of Styria for Fine Arts ” and in 2008 the “ Austrian Cross of Honor for Science and Art, 1st Class ”.

Since 1947 he has been represented in exhibitions all over the world, his works of art are also in renowned collections, including in the Austrian State Gallery Belvedere, the Albertina Graphic Collection, the New Gallery at the Universalmuseum Joanneum as well as domestic and foreign collections. Osterider's work included sgraffito , fresco painting , enamel painting, concrete and lead glass windows in public spaces. He was particularly known for his sacred works of art. In the parish church of Groß St. Florian there are his glass pictures "Grace" and "Temptation", in the parish hall a panel painting "The Creation".

Adolf Osterider was married to Heide Osterider-Stibor and had two sons.
