Josef Hueber

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Joseph Hueber (* 1715 or 1717 presumably in Vienna ; † September 26, 1787 in Graz ) was an Austrian baroque master builder.

Life

Father Sebastian came from Tyrol and came to Vienna, where he worked as a bricklayer foreman and had direct relationships with Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt and probably also with Joseph Emanuel Fischer von Erlach . Josef Hueber began his training with his father and from 1730 went on a four-year journey. Afterwards he worked as a foreman in fortress construction in Vienna. In 1739 he passed an examination [master's examination] from the imperial “fortification master builder” Joseph Krauss .

In the same year he entered the service of Josef Carlone in Graz, married his widow after his death in 1740, thus also took over the "profession" and on March 27, 1740 was accepted into the masons' guild.

He received (when?) The vacant position of a “landscape master mason” from Graz, and from 1782 headed the Graz mason guild.
