Hans Reuther

Hans Reuther (born November 21, 1920 in Berlin ; † March 11, 1989 ) was a German architectural historian and building researcher .

Life

From 1939 to 1944, Hans Reuther first studied architecture at the TH Berlin , then in 1946/47 art history, classical archeology and musicology at the University of Erlangen . In 1947 he was in Erlangen with a thesis on the Weizberg Church Joseph Hueber in Styria Dr. phil. PhD and in 1948 at the TH Darmstadt with a monograph on Balthasar Neumann's pilgrimage church Maria Limbach as Dr.-Ing. He then worked as a conservator in the Lower Saxony monument preservation department , completed his habilitation in 1961 at the Technical University of Berlin and took over the chair for building history and building survey there in 1966, which he held until his retirement in 1986.

Hans Reuther lived in Hannoversch Münden , from where he took the train every week over the interzonal route Braunschweig - Helmstedt - Marienborn - Magdeburg to West Berlin. After the sudden death of Konrad Hecht in 1980, he took over his main lecture at the TU Braunschweig for several semesters , for which he interrupted his drive home to Hannoversch Münden in Braunschweig at the end of the week . Since 1982 he was a full member of the Braunschweig Scientific Society .
