The Roman Catholic parish church Stubenberg am See is located in the center of Stubenberg am See in the municipality of Stubenberg in Styria . The parish church of St. Nikolaus belongs to the Deanery Gleisdorf in the Diocese of Graz-Seckau . The church building is a listed building .

history

A church was first mentioned in a document in 1217. The sacred building was rebuilt between 1760 and 1766, probably under the master builder Josef Hueber . In 1972 there was an interior restoration.

architecture

The two-bay nave is vaulted with a square vault on swinging wall pillars. The retracted one-yoke choir has a semicircle. A square chapel is built on the north side and a sacristy with oratory on the south side. The west gallery has a vaulted parapet, while the single-tower facade in the west has a slightly protruding middle section and a pilaster structure.

An epitaph Herberstein from the 3rd quarter of the 16th century was transferred in 1856 from the interior of the church to the south front, to access the Herberstein vault. It consists of an almost life-size crucifix and eight male and eight female figures kneeling to the side in armor or costume. On the chancel of the church, the choir circuit (choir) , the tomb of the counts Tacoli was grown 1911th

The rectory was built between 1734 and 1736.

The late baroque interior from the 3rd quarter of the 18th century was restored in 1957. The altarpiece of the Assumption of Mary was designed by the painter Johann Cyriak Hackhofer in Vorau in 1724 .
