The Roman Catholic parish church Schützen am Gebirge is located at the south-eastern entrance to the municipality of Schützen am Gebirge in the Eisenstadt-Umgebung district in Burgenland . The parish church , consecrated to St. Mary Magdalene , belongs to the dean's office in Rust in the Eisenstadt diocese . The church is a listed building .

history

A medieval parish was mentioned in a document in 1527, was later temporarily Protestant, and was rebuilt in 1638. The medieval church building was renovated between 1674 and 1680 and burned down with the wooden tower in 1683 during the Turkish war. Around 1696 a new stone tower was built, the church was rebuilt in 1720. In 1935 the church was renovated. The church was restored in 1953, 1959/1960, 1966 and 1968.

The uniform baroque church building with a western gable front has a two-storey east tower with a stone pointed helmet.

Furnishing

The high altar, erected in 1959/1960, shows the altarpiece of Mary Magdalene at the feet of Christ at the banquet in the Pharisee's house above a modern marble canteen. The east wall shows a modern stucco relief of the Holy Trinity and Angels.

The organ from 1792 was restored in 1978. A bell by Jakob Montell 1748 was cast in 1920 by the Seltenhofer company, with the designation Fusum 1748, Transfusum 1920 .
