Parish church Schiefling in Lavanttal
The parish church Schiefling im Lavanttal stands on the western edge of the village Schiefling im Lavanttal in the municipality of Bad St. Leonhard im Lavanttal in the Wolfsberg district in Carinthia . The Roman Catholic parish church consecrated to St. Aegidius belongs to the Wolfsberg deanery in the Gurk-Klagenfurt diocese . The church and the cemetery are under monument protection ( list entry ).
history
A parish existed before 1417.
architecture
The exterior of the church shows a large late baroque church building. The presented mighty west tower, which is Gothic in essence, does not stand in the axis of the nave and has baroque, arched sound openings and a pointed roof. A semicircular retracted apse adjoins the nave. The two-storey sacristy extension has a south-facing gable facade. The late Gothic west portal is profiled and has lateral branches above figural niches, finial and crabs, and tracery with fish bubbles in the tympanum.
The interior of the church shows a tower ground floor with a groin vault, the beginnings of the former ribs are partly preserved, and contains a partly preserved bricked-up Gothic portal to the former nave, the current entrance is shifted to the side. The hall-like baroque nave has a barrel vault, divided into four bays by stitch caps and protruding wall pillars. The three-axis west gallery is groin vaulted on pillars, above is a second gallery with a strongly swinging parapet.
Furnishing
The furnishing is uniformly late baroque from the third quarter of the 18th century with rich, remarkable sculptural decoration, on the high altar Agidius flanked by Norbert and Petrus, in the essay Josef.
The font from the 17th century has a wooden baroque lid. A canvas picture Adoration of the Shepherds was made around 1800. An iron sacrificial box was made around 1900. A bell mentions 1779.
