The parish church of St. Michael is in the Linz district of Bindermichl, Waldegg in Upper Austria . The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Michael belongs to the dean's office Linz-Süd in the diocese of Linz . The church is a listed building .

history

Due to the establishment of the Bindermichl district around 1940 by the National Socialists in an originally rural area and the associated rapid population growth, an emergency church was built in Uhlandgasse in December 1945 and made a parish exposition in 1946. Today's church was built on the initiative of parish clerk Josef Mayr from 1954 to 1957 according to plans by VÖEST architect Friedrich Reischl using poured concrete with a steel and glass construction. The consecration took place on September 29, 1957 by Bishop Franz Zauner . At the time, this was the most modern church building in Linz, which at this time led to sometimes fierce criticism.

The glass frieze was designed by Lydia Roppolt , the Way of the Cross by Rudolf Kolbitsch . The organ comes from the Krems organ builder Gregor Hradetzky from 1964. The church was completely renovated in 1988 and the interior was completely redesigned by Helmut Werthgarner .
