The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Oswald bei Freistadt is located in St. Oswald bei Freistadt in the market town of St. Oswald bei Freistadt in the Freistadt district in Upper Austria . The church consecrated to St. Oswald - incorporated into St. Florian Monastery - belongs to the Deanery of Freistadt in the Diocese of Linz . The church is a listed building .

history

A church was mentioned in a document in the 13th century. The late Gothic church building has a choir from the third quarter of the 15th century, which was followed by the nave, which received a gallery around 1520. The nave was extended to the west in 1909/1910.

architecture

The two-bay rib vaulted choir has a five-eighth end . The original Gothic three-bay nave with a main nave and a narrow north aisle is vaulted with mesh ribs. The gallery is vaulted with ribs. The western extension around 1909/1910 has three aisles. The tower is also new. The Gothic north portal is walled up and shows the mosaic Christ on the Mount of Olives .

Furnishing

The decor is neo-Gothic. There is a Gothic statue of St. Oswald from the end of the 15th century. The statues Leonhard and Johannes Nepomuk are baroque. The marble oval baptismal font is classical from the beginning of the 19th century.
