Edition Güntersberg is a German music publisher with headquarters in Heidelberg , who on viol music specializes.

It was founded in 1990 by Günter von Zadow and Leonore von Zadow-Reichling, a professional viol player. In addition to works from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, there is a focus on works from the Early Classical period , both for viol, for example by Carl Friedrich Abel , and for baryton , including works by Joseph Haydn .

In the Buxtehude year 2007, the publishing house published several works by Dieterich Buxtehude , including Mit Fried und Freud , one of the few works by the composer that were published during his lifetime. The edition is accompanied by a facsimile of a print that is in the Badische Landesbibliothek . A review of their edition of a duo sonata for violin and viola da gamba by Buxtehude noted the precise foreword, which also provides information on historical playing style, and a movement that corresponds to the composer's accidentals and does not contain any additional designations. One edition contains a score with figured bass , but also a suggestion for the design of the continuo.

The publishing house published many works that Haydn wrote for baryton , for example in 2009 numbers 97 to 126 of his string trios for baryton, viola and cello. In 2010 Alexander Ferdinand Grychtolik's reconstruction of JS Bach's lost homage cantata O pleasant melody , based on a wedding cantata , was released.

In 2016 the publisher published Twelve Fantasies for Viola da Gamba solo ( 12 Fantasies pour la Basse de Violle ) by Georg Philipp Telemann that were believed to have been lost. On the basis of tips from the French musicologist François-Pierre Goy , they were found in the Lower Saxony State Archives in Osnabrück . The archive has a complete print of the works that Telemann self-published in 1735. The viol player Thomas Fritzsch played the Fantasias for the first time since their rediscovery in two concerts on March 19 and 20, 2016 as part of the 23rd Magdeburg Telemann Festival ; At the same time a recording and the music edition were presented. The archive also contains other works, of which three viol sonatas by Carl Friedrich Abel were published by Edition Güntersberg in 2016.
