As a former collegiate church, the Roman Catholic Parish Church of Suben is structurally connected to the former Suben monastery in the municipality of Suben in the Schärding district in Upper Austria . The church consecrated to St. Lambert belongs to the deanery of Schärding in the diocese of Linz . The church is a listed building .

history

The originally Romanesque basilica was demolished and a new building was built between 1766 and 1770 with the Munich builder Simon Frey. Romanesque window remains have been preserved in the tower. Romanesque stone can be found in the church and in the Schärdinger Museum.

architecture

The single-nave nave follows three rooms with hanging domes, whereby the central room was made wider and higher, and was provided with short barrel-vaulted cross arms. The cross arms in the longitudinal axis are resolved with chapel niches and galleries above and lead over to the other two domed rooms. The choir has a semi-elliptical ending. The fresco in the vaults Conversion of St. Augustin painted Johann Jakob Zeiller (1768).

Furnishing

In front of the three hanging domes are wooden statues of the four evangelists, the four church fathers and the four archangels in the manner of Josef Deutschmann from Passau.
