The parish church Tautendorf is in the village of Tautendorf in the market town of Gars am Kamp in Lower Austria . The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Josef belongs to the deanery Horn in the diocese of St. Pölten . The church is a listed building .

history

The parish was founded in 1783 and the parish church was built around 1785. The sacristy was added around 1900. 1982/1983 was a restoration.

architecture

The late baroque, cubic hall building with a western gable tower and a retracted single-bay choir with a triangular closure is surrounded by a wall and a cemetery.

Church exterior

The simple exterior shows itself with pilaster strips and a cranked surrounding cornice and arched windows. The western front has a plastered field structure, a protruding middle section and a front-built portal structure with a stucco Eye of God in the gable field and a flat arched window above. The facade tower with corner pilaster strips between gable beds stands above the attic. The tower has arched sound windows and profiled clock gables and wears an onion helmet. The nave runs in inclines up to the lower choir. The choir has a profiled cornice and oval windows. The sacristy to the north has a flat roof.

Church interior

The nave with a two-bay lancet barrel vault over wall pillars with stepped templates and a profiled cranked beams and belt arches is rounded off in the corners of the room. In the narrower western yoke is the square arched gallery with a brick parapet and a basket-like curved lattice top. The triumphal arch is rounded. In the southwest corner to the side of the gallery, a small oval domed room is cut into the wall and contains a holy grave . Opposite is an oval corresponding staircase to the gallery and the tower. The church still has original door fittings and locks.

The vault paintings in cartouche frames with the Holy Family, Trinity in Angelic Glory, Emmausszene, Maria Immaculata are signed in the choir with I. Kranzl in 1857 and were renovated by E. Anton Kittenberger (1929). The stained glass is from the first third of the 20th century.

Furnishing

The facility was taken over from abandoned churches. Mostly from the Dominican Church in Krems , with the high altar, Anne's altar, dining grate, organ parapet, confessional and pews, statues Franz and Donatus, Rosary Queen (1734) by Josef Matthias Götz , cross with the Sorrowful Mother of God, picture St. Thomas Aquinas by Alvarus Schmidt , Corpus Christi of the Holy Sepulcher.

  • The high altar as a volute tabernacle above a sacrophage altar bears the figures Ecclesia and Pope on volutes on the side and the carved relief of Christ on the cross on the tabernacle and above it a halo with angels' heads from the second quarter of the 18th century. On the side of the wall are gilded figures Franz and Donatus. On the east wall is the oil painting Transfiguration of St. Josef by Josef Winterhalter from the end of the 18th century.
  • The St. Anne's altar is a richly ornamented, marbled Rococo altar with pilasters and volutes on the side and dates from the second quarter of the 18th century.
  • A northern cartouche-shaped retable altar with marble and a curved altar table was transferred here from the parish church in Stein an der Donau and shows the altarpiece Madonna from the 19th century.
  • The remarkable baroque fisherman's pulpit from the third quarter of the 18th century was attributed to an Eggenburg master. The basket has the shape of a boat and shows a cross flag on a mast. The canopy forms a sail which is pulled up by a putto. In the basket are the figures of Jesus and Peter. The attributes church model and tiara are on the rock-shaped substructure .
  • The organ in a neo-renaissance case from the end of the 19th century was built by Franz Capek (1901).
