Rafael Schick

Rafael Schick (born October 31, 1957 in Laupheim ) is a German general physician in the armed forces . Most recently, he was General Doctor of the Air Force and head of the Aerospace Medicine Center of the Air Force in Cologne . He was followed by Bernhard United after.

Life

Rafael Schick completed his basic military service with the Army Aviation Regiment 25 "Oberschwaben" in Laupheim from 1976 to 1977 , afterwards he studied human medicine at the Universities of Ulm and Tübingen and received his doctorate in Ulm in 1984 with the grade summa cum laude . From 1983 to 1984 he worked as an assistant doctor in the field of internal medicine at the Medical University Clinic in Ulm, after which he was a two-year fellow of the German Research Foundation (DFG) and a postdoctoral fellow in the gastroenterology unit of the Mayo Clinic, Rochester in Minnesota in the USA and from 1987 to 1993 assistant physician at the 2nd Medical Clinic of the Technical University of Munich in the Klinikum rechts der Isar , from 1994 to 1997 as senior physician .

During this time, Schick completed several military exercises , including at the Medical Academy of the Bundeswehr in Munich , the Aviation Medical Institute of the Air Force in Fürstenfeldbruck , the Air Transport Wing 62 in Wunstorf and the Medical Office of the Bundeswehr in Bonn , so that in 1996 he was appointed senior physician in the reserve . In 1997 he finally became a professional soldier and took over the management of the Clinic for Internal Medicine at the Bundeswehr Hospital in Ulm , which he held until 2013. He was then head of Department I (Science Management) at the Air Force's Aerospace Medicine Center , before becoming its head in 2015. On September 1, 2016, Schick was promoted to General Doctor by the Defense Minister.

He gained further medical experience between 1997 and 2013 as a member of the doctoral committee of the University of Ulm, as head of the internal medicine consulting group in the medical service of the German Armed Forces , as a member of the Human Factors and Medicine Panel of the NATO Science and Technology Organization in Neuilly-sur-Seine , as Permanent representative of the chief physician of the Bundeswehr Hospital Ulm and as a member of the board of the Comprehensive Cancer Center of Ulm University.

Rafael Schick is married and has two children.
