Jürgen Brandenstein (born December 19, 1956 in Heimboldshausen ) is a German doctor and general practitioner a. D. in the Central Medical Service of the Bundeswehr . In his last post, Brandenstein was chief physician at the Bundeswehr Central Hospital in Koblenz from July 10, 2015 to October 23, 2017 .

Life

In 1979 Brandenstein joined the Bundeswehr. After basic training in Pfeddersheim and the non-commissioned officer course in Sonthofen , he switched from 1980 to the career of medical officer candidates with a degree in medicine at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . From 1983 to 1986 he studied medicine at the Technical University of Munich , from 1986 he was employed as an assistant doctor at the Bundeswehr Hospital in Munich , after which he was a troop doctor and squadron chief in Giebelstadt , and an aviator at Jagdbombergeschwader 34 in Memmingen . In 1999 he assumed duties as S3 medical staff officer at the chief medical officer of the Air Force Command in Cologne, from 2005 to 2006 as head of the health service, medical command III (SanKdo III) in Weißenfels, 2007 to 2012 head of the staff and head of the health service in SanKdo III ibid. From 2012 to 2013 he led the medical service at ISAF in Afghanistan .

On October 1, 2013, Brandenstein became the first head of the newly established center for aerospace medicine of the Air Force (ZentrLuRMedLw) in Cologne as General Doctor of the Air Force and led this until July 6, 2015.

From July 10, 2015 to October 23, 2017, Brandenstein was chief physician at the Bundeswehr Central Hospital in Koblenz. He handed this post over to General Doctor Norbert Weller and was retired.
