Norbert Weller

Norbert Weller (born June 12, 1959 in Unna ) is a German doctor, medical officer ( general staff doctor ) and since September 6, 2018 chief of staff in the medical service command of the Bundeswehr in Koblenz .

Life

In 1980, after graduating from the Pestalozzi-Gymnasium in Unna , Norbert Weller joined the Bundeswehr as a medical officer candidate . From 1980 to 1986 he studied human medicine in Münster, followed by a one-year clinical training at the German Armed Forces Hospital in Hamm . After receiving his doctorate in 1987, he took on a position as a troop doctor with Panzerbataillon 194 in Münster and from 1990 to 1991 as S 3 staff officer and medical staff officer, doctor of the corps doctor of the 1st Corps . From 1991 to 1993 Weller completed a national general staff course at the command academy of the German Armed Forces in Hamburg.

From 2012 to 2013 Weller was commander of the medical academy of the Bundeswehr and has been director for military medical science and skill development in the medical service there since July 1, 2013 (restructuring in the medical service with an increase in the post of the commander of the academy). On October 18, 2017, Weller handed over this post to Oberstarzt Hans-Ulrich Holtherm , in order to take over the post as commander and medical director of the Bundeswehr Central Hospital in Koblenz from General Doctor Jürgen Brandenstein on October 23, 2017 .

He handed over this post as commander and medical director of the Bundeswehr Central Hospital in Koblenz to General Doctor Almut Nolte on September 6, 2018 . On the same day, Weller himself took over his current post as Chief of Staff in the Medical Service Command of the Bundeswehr from General Staff Doctor Stephan Schmidt . In this post he was promoted to General Staff Doctor himself in November 2018.
