Stephan Schmidt (General Doctor)

Stephan Schmidt (born June 10, 1961 in Tübingen ) is a German doctor and medical officer ( general staff doctor ). Since 2018 he has been the commander of the medical service support command in Weißenfels .

Career

From 1980 to 1986 Schmidt completed a degree in human medicine at the Universities of Homburg / Saar and Tübingen with a subsequent license to practice medicine . In 1987 he joined the Bundeswehr as a conscript medical officer at the Medical Academy of the Bundeswehr in Munich. In the same year Schmidt was promoted to Dr. med. PhD. From 1987 to 1993 he was employed as a medical instructor for medical NBC and radiation protection and as a troop doctor at the Sonthofen ABC / SE school . Schmidt then moved to the Federal Ministry of Defense . In 2001 he took over the medical regiment 5 in Rennerod as commander. In the same year he moved to the Bundeswehr Medical Service in Munich as group leader III 1 - Organization . In 2003 he worked as a department head in the army headquarters in Cologne . From 2006 to 2010 he worked again in the BMVg. He was then used until 2012 as Chief of Staff Medical Command in Koblenz. This was followed by a three-month assignment as head of the special staff department in the Bundeswehr Medical Service Command. Before his current assignment, Schmidt was employed as Head of Department B in the Bundeswehr Medical Service in Koblenz. On September 18, 2018, he took over his current position as commander of the medical service support command in Weißenfels in Saxony-Anhalt .
