Ernst Heinrich Martin Theodor Ebeling or Ernst-Hindenburg Ebeling (born November 22, 1919 in Dobbertin ; † January 16, 1991 in Seelscheid ) was a German air force and medical officer.

Career

Ebeling's father Dr. med. Ernst Ebeling was a long-time doctor in the Dobbertin monastery. In 1933 he moved to Bad Doberan.

Ebeling joined the 12th Infantry Division (Wehrmacht) on November 3, 1937 as an officer candidate in anti-tank department 12 . In September 1939 ( attack on Poland ) he switched to the Air Force . By February 1941, courses at various pilot schools followed before he was transferred to the 10th Squadron of Kampfgeschwader 53 on March 11, 1941 . He remained in this squadron until August 4, 1943, albeit in different squadrons. On December 1, 1941, he was promoted to lieutenant and on October 26, 1942, he was awarded the Luftwaffe's Cup of Honor. On August 4, he was transferred to Kampfgeschwader 77 , which was stationed in the Mediterranean region. At times, the task of a second general staff officer (Ib) took on the staff of the fighter pilot Mediterranean (Fernkampffliegerführer / Luftflotte 2 ). On October 1, 1943, he was promoted to captain and on January 15, 1944, he was transferred to the staff of Kampfgeschwader 53. Here he took the post of First General Staff Officer . On March 20, 1945, he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross in this capacity . In the post-war period he studied medicine at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel . He completed his internist training and joined the newly established Bundeswehr in 1957 . He was chief medical officer (LSO) of the Army Aviation , department head at the Aviation Medical Institute of the Air Force , teaching group commander at the medical academy of the Bundeswehr and LSO of the Air Fleet Command . Most recently, from October 1, 1972, he was General Physician in the Air Force's medical service . From April 1, 1973 the post was called General Doctor of the Air Force . He retired on March 31, 1980.
