Wolfgang Nissen

Wolfgang Nissen (born June 28, 1925 in Neudietendorf ; † January 5, 2008 in Gauting ) was a German doctor and, as a medical officer, most recently a doctor general in the Air Force . From 1982 to 1983 he was the 7th President of the German Society for Aerospace Medicine e. V. (DGLRM).

biography

After graduating from high school, Nissen joined the Wehrmacht and began studying human medicine at the Military Medical Academy in 1943 , which he continued after returning from French captivity in 1948 and completed his state examination and doctorate in 1954. Resident and ward doctor followedactivities before he joined the newly established Bundeswehr as a medical officer in 1956.

There Nissen initially served as a troop doctor of an armored infantry battalion , in the host organization, as a troop doctor at SHAPE in Rocquencourt near Paris and from 1961 to 1963 as an adjutant to the inspector of the medical and health services .

The aeromedical basic training completed Nissen at the French Armée de l'air , followed by uses in an Army Air Corps and the Fighter Bomber Wing 33 in Büchel . When he was transferred to the post of Head of Department “Aviation Medicine and Military Hygiene” on the staff of the General Doctor of the Air Force, he was promoted to Chief Doctor . This was followed by assignments as department head I of the Aviation Medical Institute of the Air Force and as deputy commander and department head "Studies and Science" at the Academy of Medical and Health Services of the Bundeswehr , before Nissen in his last military assignment from October 1, 1982 to September 30 1985 in the rank of general physician held the post of general physician of the air force .
