Jörg Binnewies

Jörg Binnewies (* 3. December 1950 in Eisdorf ) is a German physician and medical officer ( general practitioner ret. Of the Air Force ).

Life

Binnewies studied German, politics, journalism and medicine and is a specialist in general medicine, rescue medicine, and sports and aviation medicine.

Binnewies worked in various positions as a medical officer in the Bundeswehr . Among other things, he headed the Institute for Medical Work and Environmental Protection of the Bundeswehr in Berlin . In his last position from July 1, 2008 to September 30, 2013, he was General Doctor in the Air Force based in the Siegburg Brückberg barracks . During his tenure, Binnewies was involved in merging the tasks of the Aviation Medical Service of the Air Force, the Aviation Medical Institute of the Air Force and the Department of General Physician of the Air Force. In the course of this, he agreed on a cooperation with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) for the joint implementation of research projects, the promotion of young scientists and the mutual use of resources.

With the retirement of the Luftwaffe General Physician and the Air Force Institute of Aviation Medicine on September 30, 2013, Binnewies retired. He handed over his duties to his successor Jürgen Brandenstein , who will lead the newly established center for aerospace medicine of the Air Force (ZentrLuRMedLw) in Cologne as general doctor of the air force .
