Fritz Dörner

Fritz Dörner (born June 28, 1908 in Liedolsheim ; † June 24, 1976 in Nettersheim-Marmagen ) was a German soldier and doctor. He was a senior physician in the German armed forces and from 1963 a general physician in the air force .

Life

Reichswehr and Wehrmacht

From 1927 Dörner studied medicine in Freiburg im Breisgau , Heidelberg , Marburg , Munich and Würzburg . In Freiburg he was active in the Corps Suevia Freiburg . On April 1, 1930, he joined the German Reichswehr as a medical officer candidate . In 1932 he passed his medical state examination and received his doctorate in 1933. He then worked in the Stuttgart hospital in 1933 and in the Ludwigsburg hospital in the first half of 1934.

From September 1, 1935 to August 31, 1937, Dörner worked as an adjutant at Luftkreisarzt IV in Münster , then until 1940 at the Air Force Sanitary Inspector in Berlin . As part of Operation Weser Exercise , Fritz Dörner was then deployed in Norway until August 1940 .

Until May 1941 he was employed by Kampfgeschwader 1 “Hindenburg” , after which he was a corps doctor with the I. Fliegerkorps. Dörner also took part in the Russian campaign as an air force command doctor at the “Don” air force command. In 1942 he was also the commander of the medical training department of the Air Force 17. From 1943 until the end of the war on May 8, 1945, Dörner worked in the Air Force Hospital in Munich.

On February 5, 1958, Fritz Dörner was appointed to the service of a professional soldier in the Bundeswehr (senior medical officer). With effect from December 1, 1958, he was promoted to chief physician and with effect from September 1, 1963 to general physician . He held this office from February 1, 1959 to September 30, 1967, making him the doctor-general with the longest period of service in this post.
