The Brückberg barracks are located in the Brückberg district of Siegburg .

history

The royal Prussian fireworks laboratory - one of two ammunition factories in Siegburg - was located on the site of today's barracks from 1892 until the end of the First World War . In 1920 the French occupation forces built the Caserne du Verdun on the site of the former fireworks laboratory . The French troops left Siegburg in 1926. As a result, most of the buildings in the old ammunition factory were demolished in 1931. After the Second World War, there was a Belgian military camp on the Brückberg.

In 1957, the Bundeswehr took over the military camp and an Air Force transport company moved in .

In 1959 the guard battalion and the staff music corps of the Bundeswehr were relocated to the Brückberg barracks in order to be able to cover the protocol requirements of the constitutional organs based at the Bonn government seat . At times 1,100 soldiers were stationed here.

In the course of the relocation of the seat of government , part of the companies of the guard battalion moved to Berlin in 2000/2001 . After the relocation of further units to Berlin, the official farewell of the guard battalion from Siegburg took place on April 26, 2014. At the end of September 2014, the last company of the guard battalion was relocated to Berlin.

Until its dissolution at the end of 2012, the Logistic Master Data Management (LogStamM) group was stationed in the logistics office of the Bundeswehr in the Brückberg barracks. She then moved to the new logistics command of the Bundeswehr in Erfurt, but will remain in the Brückberg barracks until the planned move.

Until September 2012, parts of the Federal Office for Information Management and Information Technology of the Bundeswehr were also housed in the Brückberg barracks.

From 2004 to 2013 the barracks was also the office of the General Doctor of the Air Force . In September 2013, the office in Siegburg was closed again and integrated into the Air Force's Center for Aerospace Medicine .

In return for the withdrawal of Bundeswehr facilities from Siegburg, parts of the newly created Federal Office for Personnel Management of the Bundeswehr have already been settled in the city. Overall, the number of Bundeswehr employees in the Brückberg barracks is to be reduced from 780 to 370 after the new stationing has been completed.

Since October 2019 the 6th / Field Jäger Regiment 2 and the associated Feldjägerdienstkommando Bonn / Siegburg have moved into the barracks and have found a new military home there.
