Parish Church of the Holy Family

The parish church of Wels-Hl. Family is at Welser district Vogelweide in Upper Austria . The Roman Catholic parish church of the Holy Family belongs to the Wels-Stadt dean's office in the Linz diocese . The church is a listed building .

history

Due to the brisk residential construction activity in the Vogelweide district from 1939 onwards, there were already ideas about building a church in 1949. In 1951 a church building association was founded under the aegis of Alois Doppler. The property was acquired through a land swap between the parish and the municipality of Wels. The church was built from 1952 to 1957 according to plans by the Wels architect Franz Hörzing . The basilica nave with romanized elements is structurally reminiscent of the Linz Peace Church . On September 22, 1957, the church was consecrated by Bishop Franz Zauner .

The interior design is by Franz Hörzing, the high altar fresco by Hans-Peter Uhl .
