Parish store

The Pfarrspeicher is a storage building in Zuzgen in the canton of Aargau . It stands near the southeastern edge of the village below the Christian Catholic Church of St. George and diagonally across from the Roman Catholic parish church of St. George .

By the 17th century at the latest there was a store that was used to store the tithe at the Säckingen women's monastery . The current building was erected in 1723. In the 19th century, when monetary levies replaced interest in kind, the warehouse lost its importance. In 1878 the Roman Catholics were no longer allowed to celebrate the Lord's Supper in the church used by the Christian Catholics and for this purpose they relied on the parish barn until 1902 (construction of their own church). The arbor was restored in 1960 and the basement was redesigned between 1984 and 1986.

The brightly whitewashed granary adjoins the main street at the gable end and includes a deep vaulted cellar and a chute. The basement is entered through a round arch portal. A sloping arched entrance and a door above the basement entrance, which can be reached via a two-storey arbor, serve as access to the chute .
