The Pfennigpfeiffer Handelsgesellschaft mbH is a non-food retail chain with over 110 stores (as of 2011). The company is located in an industrial park in Landsberg in Saxony-Anhalt .

history

Pfennigpfeiffer emerged from the drugstore chain DAKO (founded in 1990). The first branch was opened in Nünchritz near Riesa and then gradually changed the company profile towards a non-food discounter.

After the introduction of the euro , due to the name reference to the old currency D-Mark, a change of the company name was considered. During this time, some branches opened under the name ProCent . Due to the high level of awareness of the name Pfennigpfeiffer , however, this was retained and the ProCent branches were gradually renamed Pfennigpfeiffer .

Since 2008, the majority of the retail chain has been owned by the Austrian Group Management Trust Holding AG ( Josef Taus ), which also includes the paper retail chain Libro .

In 2011 the company had over 110 branches in the federal states of Saxony, Thuringia, Saxony-Anhalt, Brandenburg, Berlin, Hesse, Bavaria, Rhineland-Palatinate, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Lower Saxony.
