Germany
The horse manager is a recognized three-year training occupation . Horse hosts have been trained in five fields since 2010.
history
Vocational training in riding and driving has been regulated by the state since 1927 and has been recognized vocational training under the Vocational Training Act since August 14, 1969 . The training occupation used to be called rider . The profession was later renamed as horse manager and initially taught in two disciplines, and since the promulgation of the ordinance on vocational training for horse management on November 1, 1975, in four subjects.
The four subjects since 1975:
Horse breeding and husbandry: Here the trainee acquired a. a. Knowledge of horse breeding , horse feeding, animal welfare and veterinary science , pasture management, cultivation of forage as well as moving and working horses, grassland management, handling agricultural equipment and machines, etc.
Riding: From the beginning of the training, the focus was on riding , the training of horse and rider, sufficient talent (balance and elasticity) as well as solid basic equestrian training should be available. Dealing with riding theory plays a major role in training.
Race riding: The prerequisites for this were medium height and low body weight (approx. 50 kg) as well as sportiness and the iron will to maintain body weight; races must be ridden during training.
Trotting: In this branch of training, the requirements were similar to those for racing, whereby the rider's body weight is approx. 75 kg.
Horse host since 2010
The new regulation on the profession of horse manager has been in effect since August 1, 2010, published in June 2010 in the Federal Law Gazette. It changed the profession of horse manager significantly. There are now five disciplines:
- Horse keeping and service
- Horse breeding
- Classic riding training
- Horse racing (gallop or trot races)
- Special riding styles (western or gaited horse riding)
At the same time as the ordinance, a new framework curriculum for teaching at vocational schools was developed. Here, too, the training has been changed by giving up isolated school subjects and combining them into new learning fields. In the intermediate and final examinations, the trainees in all five disciplines must plan, carry out and analyze their assignments in accordance with the basic principles of sustainability, process orientation and quality management.
A new training facility ordinance, which stipulates which requirements must be placed on training companies, was published in the Federal Law Gazette on February 7, 2011.
Horse keeping and service
With the field of horse husbandry and service , the regulation moves towards customer-oriented horse specialists who can advise and train amateurs in all areas of horse husbandry. One of the main focuses of work will be stables and smaller riding clubs. Future trainees then have to prove in their final examination that they can organize and carry out courses on loading, lunging or basic horse training.
Horse breeding
In the now decoupled discipline of breeding , much more emphasis is placed on the practice of breeding stations. The trainees therefore also learn the insemination technique. Trainees with this specialization need a solid basic scientific knowledge in order to be able to understand both the breeding theory and the technology of an insemination station.
Classic riding training
The field of classical riding training continues to train riders who ride according to the rules of classical riding theory, train horses and their riders.
horse race
The previous disciplines of racing and harness racing were merged into the new discipline of horse racing . The reason for this step was that fewer and fewer trainees are being hired, especially in trotting, and one does not want to forego this classic division.
Special riding styles
To other riding styles to participate in vocational training, there are new now the Department of caveson ways in which currently find the Western and the gear Horse Rider.
education
The training includes an intermediate examination, which should be taken about halfway through the training period. The main content of the profession of horse manager is regulated in the regulation on professional training to become a horse manager . During the training, proof of training (report booklet) must be kept, in which key texts can also be included.
All trainees who have concluded a training contract in the profession of horse manager by July 31, 2010, will do their training and examination according to the old regulation from 1975. However, trainers and trainees can mutually agree (in writing) to adopt the new regulation from the 2010 to be applied to existing contracts.
Horse economist
The training of a horse farmer to become a master horse manager is also divided into the five areas mentioned above. After passing the exam, the master horse manager is entitled to train horse managers if the responsible body for vocational training has confirmed personal and professional aptitude.
