The Pfistermühle is a former mill building in the Upper Bavarian municipality of Rottenbuch .

history

The first mill building was destroyed by fire in 1418 and rebuilt. 150 years later the mill was renewed. After this building too fell victim to a fire , the provost Guarinus Buchner from Schongau had the mill built from scratch by Franz Joseph Bader between 1770 and 1772 .

In addition to the Ammermühle, the Pfistermühle (from the Latin pistor = the miller or the baker) was the second of the mills belonging to the Rottenbuch monastery to have its own grinding and sawmill. The monastery bakery was also housed in it. It remained in operation as a grinding mill until 1912 and as a sawmill until 1930. The former bakery became a stable for cows and oxen.

The building on the slope towards the Ammer has three storeys to the east and two storeys to the west. On the ground floor, several groin vaults or flat needle cap barrels have been preserved. At the top it closes with a half-hipped roof.

The name of the Pfistermüller von Rottenbuch has been traceable since 1628.
